The increase of rideshare and food delivery services have resulted in more accidents due in part to the increase of drivers who are not professionally trained. Drivers who offer ridesharing and/or deliveries are contractors and can simply sign up through an app. In fact, drivers can sometimes get hired without proper background checks. This has resulted in more frequent accidents where passengers are hurt or seriously injured. Many of these drivers are underinsured (a recent survey found 13% of all drivers were underinsured), so it’s important to know your rights if you are injured as a ridesharing passenger or at the fault of a delivery driver.
