Thereafter, she began working for the federal courts in the Western District of Arkansas as a staff attorney for a federal judge where she primarily wrote social security opinions for cases appealed from the Social Security Administration. At the time she began working for the Western District of Arkansas, her court had one of the largest social security dockets in the nation. She remained in that position for nearly seventeen years until she transferred to the Texas Sixth Court of Appeals where she handled a wide variety of appeals, both civil and criminal.
